Deloitte Technology Fast50, 2020 Canada Winner

Altus Assessments (“Altus”) is pleased to announce that it has won the Deloitte Technology Fast 50™ program award for its rapid growth, entrepreneurial spirit and bold innovation. The program recognizes Canada’s 50 fastest-growing technology companies with the highest revenue-growth percentage over the past four years. Altus ranks 31 with 616 percent in revenue growth from 2016 to 2019.

The Deloitte Technology Fast 50 program winners consist of public and private companies in the technology sector, which have transformed the industry. Now in its 23rd year, the program runs alongside the broader Deloitte North American Technology Fast 500™, with winners automatically eligible for this elite ranking.

“To be in the top 50 this year after being named a company-to-watch in 2019 is such an incredible achievement for our company,” says Rich Emrich, CEO of Altus Assessments. “We’ve always believed that what we measure signals what we value in our society, which is why we’re so thrilled that more and more universities are enthusiastically adopting our non-cognitive assessments to look beyond an applicant’s book smarts. To really create a world serviced by exceptional professionals, people decisions must consider human attributes and do so in a fair and science-based way. This is what guides us as we enhance Casper and begin to develop new assessments and screening tools for these programs.”

Since its incorporation in 2014, Altus Assessments has been on a mission to create a world serviced by exceptional professionals by helping universities look beyond book smarts to find well-rounded students for their professional programs. Its flagship product, Casper, is a unique situational judgement test that evaluates applicants’ personal and professional characteristics. As of this year, over 360 academic programs in Canada, the US, and Australia are using Casper, with over 150,000 applicants taking the test every year, including 80% of all medical school applicants in Canada and the US.

“This year’s Fast 50 winners should be especially proud of this designation, as their role in the fabric of Canadian business—particularly during these turbulent times—is crucial,” said Erica Pretorius, partner and national leader for the Technology Fast 50 program at Deloitte Canada. “Their bold vision and true commitment to innovation allow them to not only improve today’s world, but also shape tomorrow’s, despite the constant uncertainty. This year’s winners are proving themselves resilient, innovative and adaptable, all in an unpredictable year defined by economic instability and the continuing public health crisis.”

To qualify for the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 ranking, companies must have been in business for at least four years, have revenues of at least $5 million, be headquartered in Canada, own proprietary technology, conduct research and development activities in Canada and invest a minimum of five percent of gross revenues in R&D.
