Below you will find all the information you need to help familiarize your applicants with Altus Suite.

Let’s start with a brief overview of Altus Suite:

Altus Suite is a multi-part standardized assessment that evaluates applicants for people skills in a fair and reliable way, while giving applicants multiple opportunities to showcase their unique personal and professional strengths. It is made up of:

Casper logo
Casper

An online situational judgment test that evaluates applicants for 10 non-cognitive competencies, such as ethics, empathy, problem-solving and collaboration

Snapshot logo
Snapshot

A short, one-way video interview to highlight applicants’ communication skills and motivation for the profession, allowing them to bring their personal statements to life

Duet logo
Duet

A value-alignment assessment that compares what applicants value in a program with what the program has to offer. For applicants to US medical schools and graduate medical programs only

Assessment Types

Undergraduate Health Sciences – graduating high school students applying to programs such as undergraduate nursing

Professional Health Sciences – applicants with undergraduate degrees applying to graduate or postgraduate programs such as physician assistant, physical therapy, occupational therapy, dentistry, pharmacy, and Canadian medicine etc. 

US Medicine – applicants specifically applying to undergraduate allopathic and osteopathic medicine programs

Health Sciences Speciality Training – applicants who have completed medical school and are applying to residency training in Canada and the US

Undergraduate Teacher Education – applicants that are applying to undergraduate initial teacher education programs in Australia and Canada

Postgraduate Teacher Education – applicants that are applying to postgraduate teacher education programs in Australia and Canada

If you require applicants to complete Altus Suite as part of your admissions process. We recommend adding specific copy to your Admissions Requirements webpage. We have provided three different options for you to choose from.

Short version

Altus Suite – admissions assessments of non-cognitive skills

 

All applicants are required to complete Altus Suite as part of their application for the 2021/2022 admissions cycle. To complete Altus Suite visit TakeAltus.com to create an account and complete the following assessments:

  • Casper: 60-90 minute online, open-response situational judgment test
  • Snapshot: 10-minute one-way video interview with standardized questions 
  • Duet: 15-minute value-alignment assessment*

 

*Note: only include Duet in your web copy if you are a US-based medical school that requires all 3 parts of Altus Suite

Medium version

Altus Suite – admissions assessments of non-cognitive skills 

 

All applicants applying to the <insert program name>, at <academic institution name> are required to complete Altus Suite for the 2021/2022 admissions cycle.

Altus Suite is a standardized, multi-part online assessment of non-cognitive skills, interpersonal characteristics, and personal values and priorities that we believe are important for successful students and graduates of our program. Altus Suite will complement the other tools that we use for applicant review and evaluation. In implementing Altus Suite, we are trying to further enhance fairness and objectivity in our selection process. 

Altus Suite consists of:

  • Casper: 60-90 minute online, open-response situational judgment test
  • Snapshot: 10-minute one-way video interview with standardized questions 
  • Duet: 15-minute value-alignment assessment*

How to complete Altus Suite

In order to take Altus Suite, you will be responsible for securing access to a laptop or desktop computer with webcam and audio capabilities. You will require the following for both account creation and completing Altus Suite:

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Valid email address (the same one you will use to submit your application)
  • Working webcam
  • Working microphone
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection

 

  1. Please go to www.TakeAltus.com to sign up for Altus Suite for <insert assessment code>**, under your specific country, and register using your <student identifier> and a piece of government-issued photo ID. 
  2. Select a Casper test date. You will be provided with a limited number of testing dates and times. Please note that these are the only testing dates available for your Casper test. There will be no additional tests scheduled. Please use an email address that you check regularly and that you have used for your application; there may be updates to the test schedule.
    • Important: To account for identity verification and payment processing timeline, ensure that you register for your test at least 3 days before your preferred test date and time. Last-minute bookings are not recommended.
  3. Ensure you have selected <insert program name> for distribution before the posted distribution deadline. Likely, there will be no additional tests scheduled, but the most up-to-date information can be found by browsing the Test Dates and Times on TakeAltus.com.
  4. You may complete Snapshot and Duet* any time after you have registered for your Casper test at www.TakeAltus.com, until the earliest program distribution deadline as shown on the Dates and Fees page. 
  5. Please direct any inquiries on Altus Suite to support@altus.as. Alternatively, you may use the chat bubble in the bottom right corner of your screen on the TakeAltus.com website.

 

Accommodations: If you require testing accommodations for Altus Suite, you will need to submit the Accommodations Request Form signed by you and your qualified professional 3 weeks in advance of your desired test date. More information regarding accommodations can be found here.

Program fee waivers and coupons

Altus Assessments offers program fee waiver and coupon codes to programs who want to absorb the assessment fee for their applicants. Programs providing these waivers and coupons will communicate this directly to their applicants via email. Note that these codes cover the base fee and distribution fee only for the program offering the waiver or coupon. Codes are associated with applicant email addresses and can only be used one time. All other distribution fees are the responsibility of the applicant.

Programs interested in offering a fee waiver or coupon code are encouraged to speak with their Altus Assessments Customer Success Manager to begin the process.
